Thick of The Action 16.01.12

A politician is always in the thick of the action, and I was today!!
Around 10pm, just as I was in my parents' home chit chatting over a can of.... 100 Plus (no beer - haram)..... we heard a loud "THUD" sound.
Immediately I grab a T-Shirt and together with my mom and dad ran out, and lo and behold there were people running from all directions too from the many houses within the Taman. Cars and motorcycles were stopping to see the carnage too.
One 4 wheel drive, one car and maybe two motorcycles were involved in an accident.
The road beside my house used to be one very quiet road but today it links as a short cut to many Tamans and even a link to the Eastern part of SP. So easily thousand of vehicles now ply this road daily.
I ran as fast as I could, there was broken glasses, the road was littered, the accident took both lanes and there were 2 groups of people screaming and crying. The saddest of this two groups was three young girls trying to drag a plump size lady by the hand who was lying motionless on the ground. Two other male victims were also lying on the ground, one right in the middle of the road while another was on the side. There was still person or persons coming out from the vehicles involved.
My mom, being the nurse, quickly checked the pulse of the youth nearest to her while I ran back and made 999 calls for the ambulance. I was one of the first few to arrive at the scene and was the first to call the emergency hotline. I could still hear people shouting and screaming, but everyone seems daze or "lost" at the moment.
After that call, I quickly ran back to the accident site and noticing a heavy build up in traffic, started calling the traffic police with my mobile phone while at the same time redirecting traffic with my other free hand.
Running all the 200 metres to the junction, I manage to stop more vehicles from coming in and at the same time helped to get the existing vehicles out of the jam and use an alternative route. Good thing I cleared the road as shortly after, the ambulance arrived and the road was cleared just in time for them.
Now, if I had not done that, the ambulance would have been stuck and precious seconds would have been lost.
All 3 victims were taken away, and I just hope the best for them. Notwithstanding, I found out that Metro Hospital, one of the private hospitals rejected the ambulance from bringing in the victims.
The useless MCA Health Minister must explain why is this still happening in Malaysia! Why are the injured are "chased" away from private hospitals if they "look" serious in nature. Aren't the private hospitals equipped to handle such cases?
Or is money much more important for them? Is the Health Minister in cahoots with this Private Hospitals? If no, then why isn't any action taken despite the numerous occasions that this type of discrimination is highlighted over and over again?
Shame on you Liow Ting Lai!
Well, tomorrow looks like I will be busy lodging a police report for the rights of the people to obtain medical assistance from private hospitals. This is an injustice which has been allowed to fester under the Barisan Nasional regime. Privatisation has never been to the Rakyat's benefit in Malaysia!

First Day Work as A Non Banker. 16.01.12

Wow! What a wonderful day today.
Today I start officially as a businessman and self-employed instead of as a salaried worker. No more bosses breathing down my neck or giving me untold stress and heartache.
In fact being a boss now, I will not do the very things that make me dislike my bosses.
So, started off today by taking over lunch to the Old Folk's Home and feeding a few of them. Then check out how the Home renovation was getting along.
Well, since the Landlord is bearing the cost of the renovation, not only cannot cheat him but also must make sure that the renovation is done in order.
I just want the patients there to feel good. But half-way through I was given a bad news, one of the patient had fallen down last week and died 3 days later in hospital due to injuries to the head. I feel so sad. Just 2 weeks ago, she was happy and enjoying Christmas Carols and I had bought gifts for her. Today she has gone.
I can only pray that the Christmas carollers from the 6 different churches that came one after another that one week before Christmas, and the sharing and testimonies they gave would have somehow touched her and she did not die without knowing about Christ or about eternal life.
Anyway, today not only learnt how to dispense medication to the old folks but so ngam, the District Hospital also decided to choose today as their visitation day. Four nurses in uniform had to be entertained and showed around the premises.
They came, saw, and gave recommendations on improvements of the Old Folks Home. Behave like the Public Bank ISO Auditors...hi...hi.... but friendlier... or definitely much friendlier.
Anyway, being my own boss, I had more free time too to do whatever I needed and yet continue with my work. Something I love. I am not tied down to an office desk nor do something to enrich the Bank.
Whatever I do now (or do not do) is to enrich my knowledge, enrich me spiritually and to enrich my health besides enriching my bank account. Yup, the better I perform here, the better it is for me, for my future and for the future of my family.
I have job satisfaction and NO REGRETS leaving the Bank. There is a sense of relief and joy and indescribable happiness.
If only I can share this feeling to more PBB staff, then possibly many more will resign the Bank immediately. For those of us who have left PBB, you would understand the special feeling.
Well, I ended work at 5.30pm. Much to my liking. So much done today but yet feel had so much ample time at the same time. I LOVE IT. Every minute of this new feeling.
Cheers everyone and enjoy yr Work Tomorrow.

Purpose of a Blog 24.12.11 - 15.01.12

Hello everyone,

the purpose of a blog is to update and be updated at all times. Or least once a day. Now how can I call myself a serious blogger if I allow myself to be hindered by time, circumstances or even wife and unable to blog?

So, that roughly explains the leave of absence from 23rd December to today 16.01.12.

Many things happened during that period, which I shall now label as the "missing link period".... a point of time that we now try to trace and update accordingly.

During the missing link which I celebrated Christmas in SP and in Church, went back to KL and had a fun day at Sunway Lagoon. My long holiday during part of the missing link period finally ended on 2nd January and I had to return to work on 3rd of January 2012.

Since I had already tendered resignation on 7th December and carried forward so many annual leave days, I only had to work 8 more days in Menara Public Bank before I ended my illustrious 21 years and 10 months career with the Bank.

But half way through my 8 days, my "selfish", yes, I meant it when I say "Selfish" and "inconsiderate" boss had to send me out for one last audit for PBB. Yup, squeeze every single drop of blood from me before releasing me.

I was sent out to audit PBB Jalan Raja Chulan. What did the Bank expect me to achieve in just 5 days at the Branch? Knowing fully well I had already tendered resignation and my heart was no longer with them? Stupid is too harsh a word to use but it felt like that though.

During the Audit, I took one day in support of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his court verdict day and boy oh boy did we not cheer ever so loudly knowing full well Datuk Seri was a free man.

And finally after that episode I was back in JRC branch and ended with PBB on 12th January 2012. My last ever working day! No doubt I am still officially a Bank staff until 7th Feb, but it felt just SO GREAT leaving the Bank.... the oppressors! Now mind you, I have nothing against Tan Sri Dato Seri Teh, but it's the Napoleons under him that are ruining the working life and environment within PBB.

PBB today is no longer the same caring Bank that I once knew.

Well, after the, I went over to Melaka to celebrate my mom-in-law's birthday and then it was back to KL on Sunday morning (15th Jan) and then off to Kedah on the same night.

So, basically, that was just a SUMMARY of what happened during the missing link period of my blogging life.

Cheers!

Third Movie This Month 23.12.11.

This morning woke up early, all because few calls start coming in early. All wanted to purchase the new sets of Bank Negara Malaysia new notes. Too bad I am not in KL or else could purchase more as still were on sale today. The BNM in Penang also all sold out.

Then dropped by Public Bank SP to meet up with "old" friends and say "hai" to the staff there.

Next it was rush off to have dim sum with parents, brother's family and Pastor Danial Han's family. Off course dim sum in SP is a 100 times much better than in SP... and despite so many of us having so much, the bill was only RM72!! Cheap but delicious.

With such filled stomach's, we drove off to the Old Folk's Home to visit the elderlies there and Ivy and me helped to feed some of them during their lunch time. Then it was off to home to rest, before going to our favourite dessert haunt for "Thor Tau Kar", rojak, ice-kacang, laksa and dry mee.

How does one lose weight in SP if the food keep going in non-stop?

Going home after the dessert, is time for another bath... 3rd one today as surprisingly the rain finally stop today and the infamous dry and hot Kedah spell was back.

By 6pm, we were off again to the Old Folk's Home to visit them as they waited for the Chinese Methodist Church carollers to arrive. And what good timing, the carollers were just about to enter the house as we arrived there. They were a totally different bunch of MYF singers, such a big group and there sang well. Seeing all the carollers brought back memories of my more than 15 years singing with them during my schooling days. Miss those good old days.

I was happy to see the tears in the eyes of some of the patients. I just pray that they were touched by the Spirit and the presence of the Lord.

We left them to head to Pekan Lama for dinner. And again it was Wan Tan Mee, Curry Bee Hoon-Mee, Char Kueh Teow, BBQ chicken wings, etc then we stuffed ourselves with. Again, I seem to be stuffing myself with SP food.

After the heavy dinner, the rest went back while 8 of us went to SP Village Mall to watch Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol (Misi Mustahil : Protokol Hantu). I would rate it 8/10. This being my 3rd movie at the cinemas within 2 weeks. This, thus far is the best movie for this month but still lose out to Tintin and Avatar.

Gonna sleep early now as tomorrow being Christmas eve will be another busy day and possible some last minute shopping as have decided to get all 23 of the old folks at the Home a gift each. Also Pastor Danial Han has to cut short his holiday in SP and required to head back to KL earlier and will be leaving us tomorrow morning.

I am yet to meet up with the PKR members in SP this round. Hopefully can do so tomorrow.

Well, goodnight, cheers and "Charreso" (Well done in Korean)

Bank Negara Issues New Notes 22.12.11

Yesterday we went to Sunway Pyramid to catch the movie "The Muppets". NIce enetertining movie but won't rank in my Top 10 list of MUST SEE movies.

Last night started packing bags to go back hometown to celebrate Christmas with parents. Morning woke up early but before can start the journey, decided to drop by Bank Negara Malaysia, KL to purchase the new set of 4th Series notes.

Arrived at BNM at 9am, and boy oh boy was the queue super long! Good thing brought wife and dotter along. Met up with Alex, Randy and Adeline too. So, with wife and dotter in tow and after queuing for almost 3 hours, we manage to get a full set each of the new designed notes.

The BNM staff all looked lost and the security staff at BNM behave like a bunch of amatuers in dealing with crowd control. They were not pro-active and despite me forseeing that it will rain and had adviced the securities, they acknowledge what I said was right but did nothing , and only when it started to rain, did teh security implement what I had adviced. Too late though as many of the people were caught in the downpour.

This only proves that BNM is inefficient, has poor customer service yet try to rule with iron fist on the Banking Industry and impose all kinds of rulings. They cannot even manage simple things. KNowing that the crowd will be huge, they only opened 2 counters, I sometimes wonder are those people at the top of BNM stupid or lost touch with reality?

But as the queue was super too long, we decided against buying more sets. We were already late in starting our journey too. By the time we picked Pastor Danial Han and family and started our journey was already 1pm.

Stopped for lunch st R&R Sg Buloh and as the entire journey was raining non stop the entire length of the North South Highway, we only made it to SP at 6pm. Then barely 5 minutes later, off we went to my father's church to watch their Agape Community children Christmas' performance.

Truly superb performance by those young kids. I am amaze at their independence, dedication, skills, and entertainment. Too bad, my HTC is still in hospital, so with my "old" hand held camera, manage to video tape only 2 out of the many splendid performance.

This primary kids even outshine the veterans from KL Wesley.

It's getting late and has been a very long and tiring day. Tomorrow will be another long and exciting day too.

Cheers and Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas!

Tian Chua to Gerakan: Come join us

Yum Cha Night 20.12.11

Just back from yum cha session with some of my buddies (Alex, James, Carol Lee, Carol Lim, Ivy n D'leene).

Had fun and as usual nonsense time too with them chatting away about all the going ons... no serious topic.

Just had to release tension by meeting up and cracking some jokes.

Came back and then for an hour or so was training our puppy Snowee to play "dead". Not bad, she can now lie down when we point with our fingers and "shoot" at her while saying "Piang". Doing it for the second time will result in her lying on her back with her legs up.

So, besides shaking hands, stand up, sit, lie down, jump thru the hoola hoop and over a bar, she is clever enough to play dead.

Talking about dead, the Bukit Gasing Assemblyman YB Edward Lee pass away early Tuesday morning. May He Rest in Peace.

Kim Jong Il passed away too, but will his dead bring a better future for the North Koreans or make their lives worst??

Gotta go to sleep now. Tomorrow another long and busy day. Despite being on leave, still have to wake up so early.... sheesh... not much different than working day.
